Munich a village of 1.5 million
For years I have marveled at how Berlin has eclipsed Munich in urban energy. I was just in Munich, and now it seems to be comfortable just being itself rather than trying to keep up with Berlin. It’s a city that respects its past (it celebrated its 850th birthday in 2008) while looking energetically into the future (it’s a favorite to host the 2018 Winter Olympics).
